Montauk Monster identified?

LONG ISLAND The strange and hairless carcass washed ashore on a beach in Montauk last summer.

Exactly what it was has been a mystery ever since.

But now an anonymous man claims it was a raccoon.

He says he and his buddies found the dead animal on shelter island and decided to honor it with a Viking's funeral.

He says they burned the carcass in a raft and pushed it out to sea.

It drifted ashore two weeks later.
