Kixx player pleads guilty in fatal NJ crash

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) - October 7, 2009 Matthew Maher of Cape May also pleaded guilty Wednesday to drunken driving in the March 7 accident on the Atlantic City Expressway in Hamilton Township. He faces up to 10 years in prison when he's sentenced in January.

Maher's sport utility vehicle crashed into the rear of a minivan driven by 55-year-old Hort Kap of Philadelphia. Kap was partially ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old Maher played in five games for the Philadelphia Kixx of the National Indoor Soccer League last season, according to the team's Web site. It currently lists him as inactive.
