Escaping the snow for warmer climates

February 8, 2010 "A lot of people just want to get out of the cold. They're tired of being cooped up in their house. They see these super games in Miami, and they just want to be there. So, a lot of people coming in just saying get me out of the cold," said Kate Osman of Liberty Travel.

Customer after fed-up-with-the cold customer is streaming into Liberty Travel in Bala Cynwd in search of an escape. Some weren't even very specific they were just demanding one thing temperatures higher than here, more along the lines of what you'd see in Hawaii.

One group of guys came in looking for a trip next week. Another woman was willing to wait a bit longer. She is bound for the beaches of Mexico.

"Looking forward to it. I have three weeks. And I'm ready for some fun in the sun," said Ericka Woodlin.

The experts recommend some advance planning even just a week or two could save you serious money.

And, while some with cabin fever may have surfed the web to find out where to the surf the waves, travel agents say, in a pinch, they're the best bet because they're able to beat the best price any web page offers, and offering payment plans for those whose wishes are bigger than their wallet.
