3 found armed, living in Montgomery Co. woods

DRESHER, Pa. - April 22, 2010

Officers were called to a residence on the 1100 block of Dundee Drive in Dresher, Montgomery County around 7:40 a.m. Sunday. The resident had found a golf cart belonging to the Twining Valley Golf Club on his property. Upon further investigation, other residents and employees at the golf course told officers of two men possibly living in the nearby woods.

Police found the three at their campsite, located between the 1700 block of Twining Road and the train tracks. They have been identified as Jonathan Mosko, 26, of Willow Grove; Jason Ryan, 24, of Cranford, N.J.; and Jocelyn Carothers, 22, of Warrington.

Upon arrest, officers found a loaded .22-caliber rifle and extra ammunition, a pellet gun, two machetes, an axe, several knives and two-way radios at the site.

Police also found what appeared to be a bottle bomb. The Montgomery County Bomb Squad was called to the scene where they determined it was in fact a live explosive filled with gunpowder and firecrackers. They took the explosive from the scene and destroyed it.

According to investigators, Ryan claims to have been in the Army National Guard.

All three have been charged with theft, receiving stolen property, causing or risking catastrophe, possession of offensive weapons, recklessly endangering another person, criminal trespass and criminal conspiracy.

Police say they don't have evidence that the trio were planning any violence.
