The U.S. Attorney's Office said Monday that Barry Jones billed the city for computer work that was never performed.
Investigators say Jones's Haddonfield, N.J.-based firm billed the city for 17,000 hours of bogus work between 2004 and 2008. Authorities say Jones spent two years billing the city for work performed by a subcontractor that stopped working for him because it hadn't been paid.
Jones is charged with mail fraud. The government is seeking $1.2 million in restitution.
A phone number for Jones' Mara Management Services was not in service Tuesday morning. His attorney did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
