Police ID man killed in NJ Turnpike crash

CHESTERFIELD TWP., N.J. - April 17, 2012

The accident was reported just after 5:00 p.m. on the Southbound New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 55.4 just south of exit 7 in Chesterfield Township near the Mercer County line.

New Jersey State Police say a truck had pulled over in a construction zone due to a bad tire when a red Toyota Camry hit the rear of the truck and became wedged underneath.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is identified as 54-year-old Mario Francois of Burlington Township.

The truck driver was unhurt.

Traffic was backed up for miles as police investigated the crash.
