ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Allentown received 2-3 inches of snow Monday.

It was a real heavy, wet snow: great for making snowballs and snowmen.

But by noon only about an inch or less remained because the snow was followed by rain.

A heavy slush coated Airport Road in Allentown for much of the morning.

Traffic moved slowly along the road. But allowing a little extra time, people were able to get to their destinations.

"It's a bit difficult but you can still drive," Nikida Allen of Allentown told us.

"It's a little slippery," said Florence Moses of Bethlehem. "You just have to be careful out there."

The northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension near Quakertown had to be shut down Monday morning after a tractor trailer jackknifed.

The accident showed just how slick the roads were in spots.

The rain melted away much of the snow. But what remained created back-breaking work for those without a snow blower.

"It's really heavy," said Sarkis Ibrahim of Allentown. "I'm talking about each shovel: 50 pounds easy."

It was a morning of snow, sleet and rain.

This latest storm to hit the Lehigh Valley was more a nuisance than a crippling event. It was yet another reminder that it's winter.

And with temperatures expected to plunge late Monday afternoon, warnings were going out about the potential for some flash freezing.

Motorists were advised to be careful during the evening commute.
