Multi-vehicle crash shuts down MLK Drive in Fairmount Park

FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating a multi-vehicle accident on MLK Drive in Fairmount Park.

At least 3 people have been hospitalized following the crash, which happened before 8:30 a.m. on the drive near Greenland Drive.

Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed a white minivan or SUV with front-end damage, a dark-colored sedan with rear-end damage and a dark-colored sedan lying on its side near a tree that appeared to have been crushed.

Medics transported two of the injured to Temple University Hospital and one to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

There was no immediate word on the extent of injuries.

MLK Drive was shut down in both directions as police investigated and crews worked to clear the wreckage.
