13-year-old boy charged with raping girl, 8

HARRINGTON, Del. -- Harrington police have charged a 13-year-old boy with raping an 8-year-old girl.

Police say the boy, accompanied by his guardian, surrendered on Thursday. He is charged with second-degree rape and is being held on $5,000 secured bail.

Officers say officials with the state Division of Family Services contacted then on Aug. 28 about an assault that occurred in a Harrington home. Detective got a warrant for the boy's arrest after an investigation.
