Commercial dumpster goes up in flames in Northeast Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A commercial dumpster erupted in flames behind an Acme grocery store in Northeast Philadelphia early Saturday morning.

The fire started just before 5:30 a.m. on the 3200 block of Red Lion Road inside the Academy Shopping Center.

Crews quickly arrived after receiving several 911 calls reporting smoke coming from the dumpster.

They discovered a large commercial dumpster on fire in the rear of the store.

They quickly got the blaze under control and checked for damage to the Acme.

There were no reports of any injuries or word on what sparked the blaze.
