Dumpster fire sends smoke through high-rise in University City

UNIVERSITY CITY (WPVI) -- A dumpster fire sent smoke through a high-rise apartment building on the University of Pennsylvania campus early Friday morning.

The blaze started around 3:30 a.m. on the 3900 block of Waltnut Street in University City.

Crews were able to get water on the fire and placed it under control in less than an hour.

The occupants, including students had to be be evacuated but were allowed back in the building a short time later.

There were no injuries reported.
