Man found shot after New Castle Co. barricade situation

ELSMERE, Del. (WPVI) -- A man was found fatally shot after a barricade situation in New Castle County, Delaware.

It all began around 12:00 Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of Brookside Avenue near Elsmere.

Police received reports that shots were fired inside a home.

Surrounding residences were evacuated and officials attempted to make contact with the man inside.

Around 1:45 p.m., police went in and found the man dead with a gunshot wound to the head. The man's name has not been released.

There were no other injuries.

Police are investigating.
