Families who've suffered heartbreaking loss came together Tuesday to make positive new memories.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. (WPVI) -- Families who've suffered heartbreaking loss came together Tuesday to make positive new memories.

Loved ones of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty had some fun in Seaside Heights.

They received free passes to the Breakwater Beach Waterpark.

The families say it was a great comfort to spend time with people who understand what they've been through.

"Today is paramount really. Usually we meet each other at funerals and memorial events and you go there with a very heavy heart. Today is all about fun and sun and being near the beach and the water, you couldn't ask for a better day," Michelle Carroll, wife of fallen State Police Officer, said.

The event was part of the 9th Annual Law Enforcement Survivors Day.
