Marathon weekend kicks off on The Parkway

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Marathon weekend is off and running Saturday morning.

The Action Cam was at 22nd and the Ben Franklin Parkway, where the half-marathon kicked off at 7:30 this morning.

The Kids Fun Run is at 10 a.m.

The Rothman Institute 8K starts at 10:40 a.m.

But the big 26 miler, takes place Sunday.

It's a comfortable, spring-like day for the run today.

However, tomorrow, runners will have to endure winter-like conditions.

One woman running in today's race says she is prepared for the chilly change.

She said, "My boyfriend is running the full. Our kids are doing the full run. So we're here for the whole weekend. We've got gloves, mittens, and blankets...we're ready."

The full marathon is tomorrow is Sunday at 7 a.m.
