NJ school suspending students for dancing?

MANCHESTER TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A dance battle between students and faculty is getting pretty heated at one Ocean County high school.

It all started last Friday when students at Manchester Township High School took to the hallways for a dance off.

Six students were suspended after the principal says they were disturbing the peace in the hallways.

This week that battle escalated, with students refusing to stop dancing in the hallways and more students getting suspended.

The school says it's not against dancing and they have dances all the time.

Principal Dennis Adams tells Action News the battles are blocking the hallways, drawing crowds and affecting safe passage.

In response to the crackdown, the students created the twitter hashtag #FreeWBWA, which they claim stands for White Boys With Attitude.

They say you can't suspend people for expressing themselves.

To which Adams replied, "Go ahead and dance. Just wait until after class or during organized events."
