Amad Diallo scores in the 90th minute to lift Ivory Coast past Ecuador 1-0 in the World Cup
Amad Diallo scored in the 90th minute to lift Ivory Coast to a 1-0 victory over Ecuador in its first World Cup appearance in a dozen years.
The teams combined to hit the crossbar three times before the Manchester United winger broke through with a left-footed shot from just inside the penalty area that beat diving goalkeeper Hernán Galíndez.

Ivory Coast is making its fourth appearance in the World Cup and first since 2014 and took a step toward reaching the knockout stage for the first time.
Ecuador saw its 19-game unbeaten streak end with its first loss since a 1-0 decision against Brazil on Sept. 6, 2024.

And it's AMAD DIALLO with what could be a huge goal in the context of the group, considering Germany's 7-1 win over Curacao earlier today...
After Wilfried Singo won a 50/50 ball down the right and had a free run on goal, he found the Man United forward in the box with a low cross and Diallo didn't miss from there, curving a first-time shot low into the bottom-left corner. So simple, and for the longest time tonight, so inconceivable.

Twice in the opening half hour Ecuador have rattled the bar! Here is John Yeboah's effort, the first such ball-meets-bar moment.
Amid a frantic opening 25 minutes in which Ecuador have hit the bar and both keepers have been pressed into action .. there's a luminary in the suites enjoying the action ... none other than Jay-Z!
