PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The massive cleanup effort will continue on Tuesday after a winter storm slammed the Philadelphia region.

Officials have stressed that road conditions may still be dangerous, especially with temperatures plummeting this week.

The next chance of widespread precipitation doesn't come until the weekend, and we will be watching to see whether a nor'easter forms and tracks along the coast or mainly stays out to sea.

Snow emergency now in effect in Philadelphia

The snow emergency in Philadelphia is now in effect.

It will remain in effect until roadway conditions improve, Mayor Cherelle Parker said.

Car owners must move their vehicles along "Snow Emergency Routes." Your car could be ticketed or towed if you don't move it.

If your vehicle has been towed from a snow emergency route, call (215) 686-SNOW (7669) and press option four. Do not call 911.

Be prepared to provide information that will help identify your vehicle.

Blue Mountain explains decision to close Sunday

Blue Mountain Resort in Carbon County announced on social media that the slopes will be closed on Sunday.

Winter sports enthusiasts are not happy with the news. They posted countless replies wondering why a ski resort would ever close because of snow.

A few hours after the announcement, the ski resort explained its decision.

"We do not have lodging here at Blue Mountain. If we have a guest who gets here early, maybe when the storm wasn't that bad, and it picks up in intensity later in the day, now they're stranded. We have nowhere to lodge these folks, and we will not put our guests in that situation," the resort said.

Blue Mountain will reopen at noon on Monday.

The resort said it's opening later than normal to give crews time to clear the parking lots.
