Police vehicle crashes into wooded area in Earl Township, Pa.

EARL TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- An investigation is underway after a police vehicle crashed into a wooded area in Berks County on Friday night.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. near Route 73 and Manatawny Road in Earl Township.

Chopper 6 was overhead after emergency crews flooded the scene.

There was no immediate word on the officer's condition.

Authorities are working to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

The road is closed in the area until further notice.
