MANTUA, N.J. -- Authorities say a southern New Jersey dad was stabbed in the stomach when he tried to intervene in a fight between his son and three other teenage boys.
Gloucester County prosecutors say 40-year-old John Trotter, of Mantua, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. But his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
It wasn't clear what sparked the fight, which occurred early Friday afternoon at a home on the 100 block of Bridgeton Pike.
Authorities say the three boys involved in the fight with Trotter's son, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, fled the scene on foot after the stabbing, but were all captured a short time later.
The three juveniles are charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. Authorities believe the 16-year-old boy stabbed Trotter.
