Philadelphia police to start carrying Narcan

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police will start carrying a popular anti-drug-overdose medication.

Naloxone, best known by the brand name Narcan, has been proven to immediately reverse the effects of overdoses from heroin and prescription painkillers like Oxycontin.

Several agencies in the tri-state area have already been equipping law enforcement with the medication.
