Victim killed in head-on Ocean Co. crash ID'd

MANCHESTER TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Police have identified the victim in a head-on crash that happened Thursday afternoon in Manchester Twp., Ocean County.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Route 530 near Lacey Road in the Whiting section of the township.

Manchester Township Police say a blue Lexus, driven by 69-year-old Fred Wood, Jr., crossed the center line and slammed into a Ford Escape, driven by 71-year-old Thomas Kubes.

Kubes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wood was flown to the hospital and was last reported to be in stable condition.

An investigation into this crash continues.
