CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- People in a Camden, New Jersey neighborhood got quite a scare after they heard two loud explosions early Tuesday.

It happened just after 12 a.m.

Officials tell Action News an underground fire on Stevens Street near Broadway led to the blasts, which residents say sent two manhole covers flying into the air.

Arriving firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

Utility crews from PSE&G arrived on the scene and determined a transformer had caught fire, touching off the blaze and the resulting blasts.

No one was hurt, and no power outages were reported.
