CAMDEN -- One person is in critical condition after a fire in Camden, New Jersey Tuesday night.

But authorities are saying it could have been worse if two police officers hadn't stopped to help.

The flames started around 11:00 p.m. at an abandoned building on the 600 block of Kaighn Avenue.

It was right next to a home, and two police officers helped get the family out.

Both officers were both treated after breathing in too much smoke.

Firefighters pulled a victim out of the abandoned building.

That person was flown to Temple University's burn unit.

There's no word on how this started.
