NEWPORT, Del. (WPVI) -- A Delaware family is appealing to the state transportation department for help in preventing more cars from crashing into their home.

On Sunday afternoon, for the 5th time in 7 years, a car went through the intersection of Newport Gap Pike and Boxwood Road, and onto their property.

"I heard a big bang, and I knew just what it was. So i ran downstairs, he had been sleeping on the couch, so I ran out the front door and called 911. Go around the corner, and there was a car in my pool," said Tara Radcliff.

Neither boulders nor signs have stopped the crashes, so the couple wants a guard rail.

DelDOT says those won't help much in head-on crashes, and might cause more injuries to drivers.

But the couple says they just don't feel safe now.
