Police say a driver became trapped after their mini-van crashed and flipped over in Southwest Philadelphia early Friday morning.

Police say a driver became trapped after their mini-van crashed and flipped over in Southwest Philadelphia early Friday morning.



The crash happened just before 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of 70th Street and Essington Avenue.



A 46-year-old female lost control of her mini-van and flipped over while taking down a utility pole with live wires.



Crews arrived on the scene and had to rescue the victim from her vehicle.



She was trapped for over twenty-three minutes and suffered various injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.



PECO was also called to the area. They say 150 customers lost power but they expect to have it restored within two hours.



Police are directing traffic from the scene and 70th Street is blocked.



Motorists should avoid this area.
