PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A group of nurses at Hahnemann University Hospital made sure a cancer patient got to share a special night with his daughter.

Melissa Culpepper bought her father Jim a ticket to Tuesday's Paul McCartney concert at Citizens Bank Park in South Philadelphia, but couldn't afford one for herself.

Mr. Culpepper's health took a turn and he thought he wouldn't be well enough to go.

His nurses stepped in to save the day and then some.

"My director was able to call our cancer center here at Hahnemann and they were able to give us the money to buy the tickets so it was all free of cost for them. We wanted to make it a special night for the two of them," nurse Lisa Antonelli said.

"It's shocking, but at the same time, it's not, this is how they are. This is how they are every day," Jim Culpepper said.

Mr. Culpepper says the entire experience was a dream come true.
