LOS ANGELES (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles are taking a break from football to help tackle poverty out in Los Angeles.

Instead of cleats, some players geared up in work boots, as they volunteered with Habitat for Humanity

Wide receivers Torrey Smith and Mack Hollins, linebackers Nigel Bradham and Najee Goode, cornerback Jalen Mills, tight end Trey Burton and defensive end Steven Means helped build homes for residents of Santa Ana.

The Eagles have back-to-back games out on the west coast.

They had a tough loss to the Seahawks last Sunday. They're now in LA as they prepare to face the Rams this weekend.
