Mother, 3 children found dead following house fire
A 35-year-old mother and her three children perished in a Saturday morning fire in Kensington.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 35-year-old mother and her three children perished in a Saturday morning fire in Kensington.

The fire began before 8 a.m. on the 3300 block of Kipp Street.

Crews arrived on scene to heavy smoke, flames and reports of people trapped inside.

"This is what we call an all-hands fire, so it brought about 60 firefighters, medics and support personnel 20 fire apparatus," said Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel who arrived on the scene Saturday morning.

Family members were praying at the scene while investigators removed the bodies.

Firefighters discovered the mother on the first floor and her three kids, 9-years-old and 17-year-old boys and her 11-year-old daughter on the second floor.

The ATF and the fire marshal are investigating. There is no word on what might have caused the fire at this time.

Nine people who live in adjacent row homes are receiving help from The Red Cross.
