Suspect steals Philadelphia police cruiser and takes it on a joyride into North Jersey

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police cruiser is stolen from Southwest Philadelphia and found more than 70 miles away in North Jersey.

Police say the cruiser was taken from the parking lot of the 12th District on the 6400 block of Woodland Avenue around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police tracked the vehicle as it made its way up Route 1 and into Middlesex County, New Jersey.

Authorities say the suspected thief made it all the way to Edison Township before officers pulled the car over.

The suspect is in police custody, no word on any charges at this time.
