Suspect charged with impersonating FBI agent, scamming 72-year-old out of $13,000

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A suspect was arrested after investigators say he scammed a 72-year-old man out of $13,000.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office announced on Monday that Patrick Vasser was taken into custody in Florida and extradited to to Philadelphia.

Vasser is charged with felony conspiracy and theft.

Investigators say he convinced the victim to transfer $13,000 to another bank account, while impersonating an FBI agent in April 2025.

The 72-year-old victim spoke at Monday's news conference, and thanked the Philadelphia Police Department and DA's office for their hard work.
