A convicted juvenile in California found out first-hand how merciful Pope Francis can be towards prisoners.
18-year-old Carlos Vazquez Junior wrote a letter to the pope from his juvenile lockup, asking for forgiveness.
Vazquez is a former gang member, serving an 11-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
Pope Francis wrote him back, saying he was praying for him.
Vazquez says the pope's letter helped him regain his will to live.
