Residents of several row houses in Philadelphia?s Frankford section were evacuated after the awnings over their adjoining front porches gave way.

FRANKFORD (WPVI) -- Residents of several row houses in Philadelphia's Frankford section are back in their homes after the awnings over their adjoining front porches gave way.

It happened before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 4700 block of Melrose Street.

Video from Chopper 6 HD showed a section of joined awnings which appeared to have had detached from the front wall of several homes.

There were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and asked residents to evacuate in case the more of the structure collapsed.

All were allowed back in their homes by 12 p.m.

Action News is told inspectors from the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections were headed to the scene to check on the structural integrity of the porch foundations.
