VIDEO: Woman says police used excessive force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (WPVI) -- A woman is suing the Colorado Springs police department.

She claims an officer used excessive force on her and it was caught on video.

Court papers say, she was arrested in 2013 after she kicked officers several times when they responded to an earlier disturbance involving her boyfriend.

They brought her to the hospital which is where the video was captured.

The woman's attorney says, "There is no one that I have showed that video to, anyone, who didn't visible gasp when they saw her being slammed into the floor."

The officer says the woman was threatening him and refused to sit down.

He says she kicked him and her boot struck just above his groin and painfully hit his pelvic bone.

In 2013, the video was used in a case against the woman for assaulting the officer.

Those charges were later dropped as part of a plea deal.
