1 dead after motorcycle, taxi crash on Vine Street Expressway

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- One person is dead after a motorcycle slammed into a taxi cab on the Vine Street Expressway in Philadelphia.

The crash happened around 3:00 a.m. near the on-ramp for the Schuylkill Expressway westbound.

According to police, the operator of a motorcycle fell and struck the undercarriage of a disabled taxi on the ramp.

The bicyclist was taken to Hahnemann Hospital and pronounced dead.

The 36-year-old driver and 41-year-old passenger in the taxi cab were not hurt.

The crash is under investigation.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
