13-year-old bicyclist critically hurt after being struck by car in Southwest Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 13-year-old bicycle rider is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in Southwest Philadelphia.

It happened at Island Avenue and Lindbergh Boulevard just before 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say a Ford Fusion struck the 13-year-old boy who was on the bike.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
