PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A teenage suspect has surrendered for the hit-and-run crash that left a beloved South Street DJ dead, Philadelphia police said.
The 17-year-old boy, a city resident, surrendered to police with his attorney and his mother on Monday, investigators said.
The crash happened on Saturday, December 20, near North 56th Street and Lancaster Avenue in the Overbrook section of the city.
The victim, 54-year-old June Rodriguez, was riding his bicycle home from work when struck around 3:45 a.m.
"My father was everything to me," said Skye Rodriguez, who said the pain of losing his father remains raw just weeks after the deadly hit-and-run that took his life.
"Losing him is like losing a part of myself because me and him, I feel like we had such a strong bond," Skye said.

According to Skye, his father was riding properly at the time of the crash.
"They said he was clearly in the bike lane, he had his lights on, he had his helmet, my dad always did," he said.
The teen suspect is being charged as a juvenile with a list of offenses, including homicide by vehicle and driving without a license.
Because he is a juvenile, his name has not been released.
"I understand the person is 17, the kid is 17, but to me - you killed somebody. To me, it doesn't matter how old you are. You killed somebody," Skye Rodriguez said.
June Rodriguez worked for decades at Bob and Barbara's Lounge, but to his son, he was simply a devoted father.
"Looking at the world in a different way, in a more loving way, than just looking at negative things all the time, my father was always like that," Skye Rodriguez said.
