Airbnb offering $750 bonus for new hosts in World Cup cities

Airbnb is offering its biggest incentive ever for new hosts in 16 cities where FIFA World Cup games are being held this summer, including Philadelphia.

The company announced on Wednesday a $750 bonus to new hosts who offer up their entire home during the World Cup tournament. That bonus is on top of the money hosts would earn from a guest's stay.

The hosts must welcome their first guests by July 31.

Airbnb says searches on their website for stays in these 16 host cities during the tournament have increased an average of 80% compared to this time last year.

According to Deloitte, over 149,000 fans are expected to Philadelphia and nearby areas for the tournament and local hosts are projected to earn an average of nearly $2,000 by listing their homes on Airbnb during the event.

Six World Cup games will be held between Sunday, June 14, and Sunday, July 4, at Lincoln Financial Field.
