WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- The boots are back!
The Tony and Grammy award-winning musical Kinky Boots returns to the area this weekend only for a limited engagement at The Playhouse at Rodney Square in Wilmington.
"All of the creatives came together to create this magical show of love and acceptance," says cast member Omari Collins. "Just be who you want to be."
Collins says it's a pop rock concert from beginning to end.
The Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein musical is based on true events, and follows the journey of two people with nothing in common - or so they think.
Charlie Price reluctantly inherits his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy.
He meets Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of stilettos of a certain size.
Together, they change the game and make some magic along the way.
This is Collins' seventh time playing Lola or "Scarlett D. Von'Du."
"As somebody who's done the show so many times, I feel like I learn something new every single time," says Collins.
Winner of the Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Awards for Best Musical, Kinky Boots is at the Playhouse at Rodney Square in Wilmington this weekend, May 8 to 10.
