52 Philadelphia schools to dismiss early Tuesday, Sept. 1 due to heat
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The School District of Philadelphia has announced that 52 schools will be dismissing early on Tuesday, Sept. 1 due to heat.
In a statement, the district says that while significant progress has been made toward ensuring schools are adequately cooled, there are still several schools with inadequate cooling systems.
Early childhood programs located within the affected schools will also be dismissed early.
All in-person after-school activities at these 52 schools are canceled for Tuesday.
The district is encouraging students to wear wear lightweight clothing and bring a water bottle to school to stay hydrated.
