WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A number of small businesses received a big boost on Wednesday in Wilmington, Delaware.
Barclays announced more than $50,000 in prizes to the winners of its pitch competition. Community leaders and dozens of representatives from small businesses in the First State gathered at Barclays headquarters.
Wilmington Mayor John Carney joined the bank's CEO, Denny Nealon, and other executives for the annual event.
The money will be used to help entrepreneurs start, or grow their businesses. Officials say the Launch small business program has helped train more than 1,400 entrepreneurs, and helped create more than 1,200 jobs across Delaware since 2017.
