Birchrun Hills Farm makes farm-fresh cheese

CHESTER SPRINGS, Pa. (WPVI) -- At Birchrun Hills Farm every brick of cheese starts with the cows living on the 52-acre dairy farm. The Chester Springs farm is run by the Miller family: Ken, Sue and their two sons Randy and Jesse.

They milk nearly 60 cows. The milk runs to a cheese-making facility the family built shortly before the pandemic. That's where Sue crafts 20 different flavors of award-winning cheese.

They make snackable spreads like Fromage Blanc and Pimento Cheese. There are cheese curds and three varieties of cheddar. Powder Hill is a special cheese that is rarely made in the United States. And Red Cat won gold at the World Cheese Awards in Europe.

They have a market on the farm stocked with all their products and other locally sourced goods. Guests can order boards for special occasions and there are gift boxes for the holidays.

Every Friday they host the "cheesiest" happy hour on the farm where guests can sample cheese, meet the cows and enjoy a glass of wine. They will have an artisan Sip N Shop Market Wednesday, November 19 and December 10 from 4-8pm with local vendors at the farm.
