Bricks fall from home during partial collapse in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- City officials are checking the structural integrity of several homes on a block in West Philadelphia after partial collapse occurred at a house Wednesday morning.

Philadelphia fire officials said it happened at around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of S. 60th and Spruce streets.

The side wall of a house on the corner collapsed, sending bricks to the ground and exposing the inside of several rooms where pictures could be seen on the walls.

Neighbors said the home is unoccupied and no one was injured.

However, they're now worried about their homes and say city officials will soon return to inspect the structural integrity of all four homes that are connected on the block.

This comes as residents in the area are still cleaning up after powerful microburst winds over the weekend that uprooted large trees and damaged many homes in West and South Philadelphia.

The damage resulted in Mayor Cherelle Parker signing a Declaration of Emergency to support the response.

It's unclear if the recent storms had anything to do with the partial collapse.
