Cab driver gets $989 tip for $4 fare

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A short cab ride yielded a tip that one Philadelphia Taxi cab won't soon forget.

Over the holidays, Freedom Taxi driver Oumar Maiga picked up a passenger in Old City for a quick ride to an apartment complex on Columbus Boulevard.

The trip was less than a mile and the fare only $4:31.

But it's what the mystery rider did next that the cab driver won't soon forget.

He left a tip for $989.98 cents on his credit card.

The driver thought it was a mistake, but it wasn't.

The cab company waited 30 days to have it verified by the credit card company... turns out it was legitimate.
