Cash stolen from donation box at Somerton Wawa, suspect sought

SOMERTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police are on the hunt for a man caught on camera stealing money from a charity donation box.

It happened at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13th at the Wawa store in the 100 block of Byberry Road in Somerton.

Surveillance video shows the man standing near the cash register trying several times to unlock a Children's Miracle Network charity box.

Then, when employees aren't looking, the suspect unlocks the box, takes about $100 cash and flees.

He's described as a white male, 40 years old, with blond hair.

He was wearing a blue and white shirt, gray shorts and black sneakers.
