Firefighters battling blaze at abandoned church in Chester, Delaware County

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Firefighters are battling a blaze at an abandoned church in Chester, Delaware County.

Flames broke out around 5:44 a.m. on Wednesday in the 1400 block of W. 2nd Street.

When crews arrived, they could see fire and smoke coming from the former Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, which reportedly closed in 1993.

The fire quickly grew to a second alarm.
