The message claims to be from the Justice of the Peace Court, telling recipients they have an overdue traffic or toll violation and urging them to act fast by scanning a QR code.

Officials say the message is fake.

They emphasize the court does not send notices by text or email, urging anyone who receives one to ignore it and delete it.
