Officer resigns after being charged in fatal 'wrong house' shooting in Upper Pottsgrove Twp.

UPPER POTTSGROVE TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- The Upper Pottsgrove police officer charged in the deadly shooting of a college student has voluntarily resigned.

Corporal Sean Farrell faces voluntary manslaughter charges.

The Montgomery County district attorney says the 58-year-old shot and killed 22-year-old Glen Pysher IV, after he banged on the door of the wrong house late at night on Sunday, August 23.

In a still image from the video released by the D.A.'s office, Pysher can be seen with his hands up.

Immediately after the shooting, District Attorney Kevin Steele said Farrell's backup arrived on the scene, and Farrell can allegedly be heard on the body camera saying, "the guy [expletive] charged me, screaming and yelling, and wouldn't get down on the ground."

However, Steele said the video does not show Pysher charging at Farrell, nor does it show him either yelling or screaming.

Friends of Glenn Pysher - some away at college - are grappling with the loss of the 22-year-old.

"No one would've ever expected this type of thing to happen to Bubba. Bubba was the sweetest kid ever," said Chris Roskos.

"Why did this have to happen to such a great individual like Glenn was? It's a question I'll probably never figure out," added another friend, Evan Radomicki.

Farrell has turned himself in to Montgomery County detectives, Steele said.

His bail was set at 10% of $75,000, and he was ordered to turn over all of his weapons to Pennsylvania State Police before being released.

His next court hearing is set for September 10.
