PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Sixers definitely shocked the NBA world when they acquired Jaylen Brown from the Celtics.
Brown earned All-NBA Second Team honors last season and already has an NBA Finals MVP award under his belt.
The five-time All-Star is expected to help elevate a Sixers team with championship aspirations. In the short term, Brown will be tasked with building chemistry alongside Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and V.J. Edgecombe.
The long-term goal remains unchanged: bringing an NBA championship to Philadelphia.
Sixers legend Julius Erving told Action News he believes Brown brings much more than basketball talent to the organization.
"He's been in Boston the last few years, and anytime Tatum was out, he showed even more of what he could do," Erving said. "He's got the dog in him, and he's been a champion in this league."
Erving also praised Brown's character.
"I've been around him a few times, and he's a very interesting individual, very astute, very worldly," Erving said. "So they're getting more than a ballplayer. I'm happy about him coming, and I'm looking forward to big things happening."
