Jalen Hurts promotes new children's book on GMA

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts is living out his dream of becoming a children's book author.

On Monday, the former Super Bowl MVP was on Good Morning America to promote his book Better Than a Touchdown.

"I think a message too is...it's like this quote my friend always tells me when we catch up we're talking about this acorn and how an acorn has everything it already needs within it to be an oak tree, and so with the right nourishment, right environment, or influences, you can be what it's destined to be," Hurts said. "And I think that's exactly what we are as people."

The book celebrates perseverance, friendship and the power of believing in one another.

Hurts says he was inspired by an experience he had as a child at a school book fair. He remembers connecting with a book that featured two Black athletes on the cover, and he later found out it was written by NFL stars Tiki and Ronde Barber.

And since Jalen is promoting a children's book, GMA brought in some kids to ask him some tough questions.

"Hey Jalen, what's your favorite vacation spot?" a child asked.

"My favorite vacation spot is anywhere with a beach, anywhere with the warm weather, especially being in Philly...Anywhere I can get some sun," Hurts responded.

Better Than a Touchdown will be released Tuesday.
