OCEAN CITY, New Jersey (WPVI) -- Local community members braved the cold and rainy weather for the Memorial Beach Challenge.
Each year, an impressive obstacle course pops up by the water.
All of this raises money for "31Heroes," a Veteran support nonprofit.
"31Heroes was founded in honor of 31 special operators, and to include one combat attack dog who's number 31, who unfortunately lost their lives in August of 2011. And this is the 15th anniversary of that," said Todd Kline, Executive Board Member of 31Heroes.
The money raised will support family members of those fallen heroes, as well as other veterans in need.
"Memorial Day is a day to reflect, a day to realize people paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedoms... the key was to make something different, to utilize the beach to show off what a great town Ocean City is. The support that we have here, it makes it different and it's an event people look forward to every year," said Mike Vaules, Co-Race Director.
